Knobbly mountain bike tyres drag on tarmac and are no fun to ride any distance, so I upgraded to these Schwalbe all terrain tyres: much lighter and slightly narrower than the original mountain tyres but they still offer quite aggressive tread for serious off road grip, with a continuous centre band for low rolling resistance on tarmac. It makes the bike much faster and more versatile for on/off road use. Zefal full mudguards with s/s stays & fittings. No more rides with mud plastered up your back and face! Inc. safety Q/R on front stays to enable stays to release in an emergency, preventing sticks etc jamming guard onto wheel. There is also plenty of clearance between guards and tyres so bike can be used off road without guards clogging up with mud. Prop stand: Lightweight sturdy A/A Description: A high quality lightweight frame sets this bike apart from the usual cheaper kids bikes, together with good components and child-specific design in every aspect, inc short reach brake levers and cranks, to saddle size and pedals. We had previously always bought Islabikes for my son - probably the most expensive child’s bikes you can find, but the Ridgeback is a very worthy alternative. However, we bought this bike shortly after moving into town and now walk everywhere for our local trips. For longer cycle rides we use a trailer bike or childback tandem, so my son only used this Ridgeback on just 5 occasions before he grew out of it, for shorter rides, in fine weather. It has never seen rain or any rough service, has never been dropped and is free of any scratches of signs of wear. I am confident that anyone seeing it would think it to be brand new and unused. The mudguards were transferred from my son’s previous bike, so are the only components that have seen any former use, but are also still in top condition. I would prefer collection in person so you can verify the spotless condition of this bike.
